I might be bias, but I thought our 13th Annual Tampa Police Charity Poker Tournament was “AWESOME“. The dinner was great, including the snow crab and steak and the poker was long but fun. We had 47 players and one re-entry. John McCarthy, thanks for re-entering prior to the break, but apparently your cards were second best for the short part of the evening, because you were also the first knocked out after the first break, which is a first of Poker Dawgs.
Speaking of first, congratulations goes out to long time Pokerdawg Ken Rogers, Jr. This was his first time winning the police trophy. His name will be added to the other ten players on the trophy. Craig Roberts and Mark Schreiber won it twice each. Ken, Laurel Harmen and first time Pokerdawg player John Raynor, decided to chop the pot and then play on for final table bonus chips and the trophy. Brian Carpenter and Fred Martini rounded out the top five.
Because Ken, Laurel and Fred already qualified for the Championship in January, that gives us four “wild card” spots available, making 6th-10th finishers even more important. Remember, any ties in final tables points, the next qualifier is who attended the most events for that year. So we have three more events before January, so come out and play.
Barbara Munday won the 50/50. She won $355 and Special Olympics got the other $350. To help pay for the fabulous dinner, we did have add-ons and we raised another $450 from that. Thanks to Ken Rogers, Jr., Donna Gulledge, Jeanne Ferguson and Mark Raynor for donating to the silent auction. We had six $25 gift cards given away as bounties and another four gift cards given away as door prizes. We also gave away more Torch Run shirts and hats for door prizes.
Our next event is August 03, 2019. Hors D’Ouevres will be served at 5:00pm and poker starts at 5:30pm. Hope to see you there.
August 03, October 05, and December 07, 2019. The tournament will begin at a new time of 5:30pm. The Championship event will be Saturday, January 11, 2020.
August and December will be multi-charity events.
All Players Welcome
