We had an interesting ending to April’s event. The final three players had similar chip stacks, so they chopped the prize money. After several hands of “heads up” between Laurel Harmon and Bruce Williams, they decided to split the bonus chips as well.  Both Mark Durina and Lynda Wallack made top five for the second time, opening up two spots for the “wild card”. This means two sixth place finishers are already in. Remember, if the final table points are tied, the players with the most events played for that calendar year, gets the nod.

A big thanks goes out to Jeanne Ferguson for donating $70 of the $205 she won from the 50/50, back to Special Olympics. I even offered her to draw the winning ticket but she reminded me that she had bought tickets, so it would be a conflict of interest. And thank you Lynda Wallack for donating some of your winnings back to Special Olympics.

We were able to give away shirts to 10 different players. I will have 2019 Torch Run shirts and hats to give away in June.

Speaking of June, that will be our big event. It will be our 13th Annual Tampa Police Charity Texas Hold’Em Tournament.  It will include the “all you can eat” prime rib/seafood buffet. Because of the increase price of snow crab, we are limited to one cluster per person. I had a choice from $30 with no snow crab, $35 for one cluster or $45 for unlimited snow crab. Last year, we paid $35 for a specific entre’ and unlimited salad. So I am excited for our current deal. If you don’t eat crab, I am sure others will be happy to accept your cluster. We will also have bounties on past winners and auction items.

To help off set the cost of dinner, Derby Lane is allowing us to have a first break add-on for $25, for an additional 5,000 chips. With the extra chips and players, plan on an extended evening of play. Past winners with bounties can expect a complimentary add-on.

Unfortunately, we are limited to 60 players. So the first 60 players that register online, will play. For those that want to bring a significant other, we will have a button online for an additional $35 for dinner only. Deadline for dinner only is Thursday, May 23rd. We are limited to 80 dinner seats. I expect all 60 seats of players will be filled up by then.

Dinner will be at 4:30 pm, poker starts at 5:30pm. Every player will have their stack at their seat and blinds will be removed for this event, to encourage players to get to their seat.

2019 Events:
June 01, August 03, October 05, and December 07,
2019. The tournament will begin at a new time of 5:30pm. The Championship event will be Saturday, January 11, 2020.

August and December will be multi-charity events.
All Players Welcome
